“Newt Gingrich spokesman R.C. Hammong confirmed to RCP that the former House speaker will suspend his campaign for president some time next week.
According to Hammond, Mitt Romney has already reached out to his one-time top rival this morning.
“The two are hatching plans about how Newt can best help stop President Obama from achieving a second term,” Hammond said. He added that Gingrich also wants to be helpful to GOP efforts to keep the House in their control and flip the Senate away from Democratic control.”
