Food Stamps must be only for the extreme cases which means the Social Workers must do a better job of interviewing, giving drug tests and unscheduled visitation, plus have the fortitude to report any discrepancies such as sitting at home taking drugs, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, selling the stamps for the drugs and going on high class vacations, etc. with our tax money. Allowing this to go on only produces a poor work ethic because people getting freebies only want more of the same. This poor attitude must be changed and it’s the Social Worker who must put his or her foot down to get these people out to work. There are jobs out there. Instead of giving them money, take them on a job interview. So what if you must start at the bottom. That’s how you work to the top and take pride in doing it. Force them into the work world and these people will find happiness and respect but most of all a better self esteem and that is what they need, the feeling of self worth. Collecting freebies does not produce any of that.
